Activity Overview
Students explored the concept of a balanced diet through an engaging classroom activity. The teacher presented a real balanced meal consisting of idli, sambhar, lemon rice, salad, and chutney. Students observed the food items, discussed the nutrients they provide, and learned how different food groups work together to keep our bodies healthy.
To reinforce learning, students created their own “Balanced Diet Plate” or “Healthy Plate” using charts, drawings, and cut-outs. They carefully arranged foods from different food groups to design nutritious meal plates.
The activity encouraged observation, creativity, and healthy eating habits. Students actively participated in discussions, identified food groups, and confidently explained the importance of including a variety of foods in daily meals. Creating their own healthy plates helped them connect classroom learning with real-life food choices.
